Kristen Nye is the principal at Nye Strategies based out of Richmond, Virginia. She is a seasoned professional who has more than 20 years’ experience in written and verbal communications in elected and hired positions. As a 3-time winning candidate in local elections, she has served in public office for more than a decade.

Kristen’s dynamic experience includes strategic negotiations with stakeholders on the regional and local level. Kristen has cultivated relationships with the local media and has done hundreds of interviews.

She is a subject matter expert with experience in collective bargaining, local public safety issues, local government, government auditing and investigations, public education and charter schools.

Her experience includes writing for the Lexington Institute, strategic communications at the Rubber Manufacturers Association, National Academy of Sciences, America Online/Time Warner and Patrick Henry Charter School. She is a graduate of one of the top communications schools in the country - Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Kristen has been featured on Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 and Richmond Power list. She was also recognized for her achievements by the Virginia General Assembly in 2024 House Resolution 708.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys spending time in the James River Park System and Forest Hill Park (mostly with her dog Jeri). She also loves hanging out with her family, traveling and going to Richmond Squirrels baseball games.
